THE DETAILS

How it works.

What is BMI (Body Mass Index)?

While BMI does not directly measure body fat, it provides a useful screening tool to categorize individuals into different weight ranges, such as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. Understanding your BMI can offer insights into potential health risks and guide you toward a healthier lifestyle.

Understanding the result

Choose centimetres or feet and inches, then enter weight in kilograms. The calculator converts height to metres and divides weight by height squared. The categories displayed are adult categories for people aged 20 and above.

BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis. It should be considered with other health information. For children and teenagers, use an age-specific calculator instead.
